Muscular Dystrophy Ireland is delighted to continue its series of condition-specific community gatherings by hosting our FSHD Community Gathering on Saturday 11 October. It will be an opportunity for people living with FSHD and their families to connect as a community and learn together.

Welcome Session for MDI’s Peer Support Space
Our Peer Support Space has been running successfully for some time now, offering MDI members with neuromuscular conditions, a welcoming place to connect, reflect, and explore mindfulness practices together. We know, however, that joining an existing group can sometimes feel a bit daunting — so we’re holding a special Welcome Session for anyone who might be curious but hasn’t yet taken that first step.
Mindfulness and Accessible Fitness
Join us for a 2-hour group event led by psychotherapist Farrah, and a 1- hour accessible fitness class with Siel Bleu.

We are delighted to announce that Muscular Dystrophy Ireland’s national conference will take place in person on Sunday, 10 November 2024, in Croke Park. There will be two programmes, one for adults and another for under-18-year-olds. Details of the programmes and booking form will be released at a later date. Stay tuned for updates!

Therapeutic Gardening Taster Session
We are excited to invite you to a Therapeutic Gardening Taster Session at MDI, facilitated by Shane Adderley from Gardening for the Mind. This special event will take place on Wednesday, 16th October at 2.00pm at MDI Headquarters in Chapelizod, and will last approximately one hour. Closing date Friday, 11th October.

Breathwork is a generic name used to cover various breathing modalities. They all use different techniques but share many of the same principles.

Online Seated Tai Chi Taster Class
Based on the slow movements of martial arts, Tai Chi is widely practiced as a safe exercise that improves balance and mobility physically, and focus and calmness mentally.

MDI Family Peer Connection Event at Dublin Zoo
This event is open to members and their immediate families. We will be meeting at the entrance of the Zoo at 11am, with a light lunch to be served at 1pm for all attending.
Independent Living Programme (18-25 age group)
This programme consists of 3 modules and we would kindly ask that you attend all 3 in order to receive a certificate of attendance. Registration closes on the 14th of June 2024. Please note there is minium number of participants required in order to run this programme.
