Paddy Hickey called in to MDI today and the team were delighted to wave him off as he embarks on the third edition of Walk4Ollie on Monday and the road to €100,000 for the Ollie Hickey Fund! We will be following his progress all next week, so watch this space!
MDI Delivers Neuromuscular Awareness Talk at eBay Ahead of Walk4Ollie Fundraiser
An Awareness Talk on Neuromuscular Conditions was delivered today to eBay staff by MDI Head of Services Ashling Kennedy as part of MD Awareness Week and also ahead of our fantastic Walk4Ollie Fundraiser, which kicks off from Letterkenny on Monday 22nd September!

We’re so excited to announce that Walk4Ollie is officially back!
Walk4Ollie returns for 2025, and this year is our biggest walk yet. Starting in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, we'll walk over 210km to our home town of Enfield. This year, our target is to raise €15,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland's "Ollie Hickey Fund", which will bring the funds raised to date to over €100,000
The 5th Annual Johnny Matthews Golf Classic raising support and awareness for four different charities
The 5th Annual Johnny Matthews Golf Classic will take place in Faithlegg Golf Club on Saturday 5th July 2025, raising support and awareness for four different charities – Autism Friendly Waterford, Cystic Fibrosis Waterford, Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and Transplant Football Ireland. The response to date has been fantastic, which reflects the admiration and affection with which the Waterford Football Family and Golfing Family have for Johnny.
RevUp 2025: Motorcyclists take to the road in a 3 day mystery tour on May 3rd to rasie money for Irish Wheelchair Association.
To date, funds raised from RevUp 2018 - 2024 were used to fund three minibuses for a school and two sports clubs that cater for young people with disabilities as well as three powersoccer chairs recieved by MDI members, eight basketball wheelchairs and a hand cycle for twelve young people who can now participate and enjoy the sport that they love.

The VHI Women’s Mini Marathon is open for registrations, and we are currently recruiting Team MDI!
We would love to build on the success of last year when we had 13 amazing women on our team who raised an incredible €5,508 to support our work. This year we would like to have a team of at least 20 women taking part to fundraise on behalf of MDI.

Rathfeigh, Skryne & Tara community raise €1,113 for MDI
The Rathfeigh, Skryne & Tara community chose MDI as their charity of choice for their recent Family Field Day. The event was a huge success with a barbeque and fun family activities and raised an incredible €1,113.04 which was received with thanks by MDI.

The Ollie Hickey Fund: Supporting Mollie’s Horse Riding Journey
We are delighted to share how the Ollie Hickey Fund has positively impacted the life of one of our young members, Mollie. With the support of the fund, Mollie has been able to start horse riding lessons. Her grandad proudly shares that Mollie finds ‘tremendous enjoyment’ riding her horse, Scoobie. This experience not only enriches Mollie's life but also helps her develop new skills and build her confidence.
Walk4Ollie 2024 is live!
This year the Walk4 Ollie event takes place from 16th – 20th July, and the route follows the amazing Waterford Greenway from Dungarvan, through Waterford City, Graiguenamanagh, Carlow Town, Monasterevin and finishing up in their hometown of Enfield. Paddy & Claire Hickey will be joined by friends, family and MDI members along the 200km route

Today we visited the Friends in Need Pop-Up shop in Long Walk Shopping Centre, Dundalk
All proceeds from the shop and the raffle will be donated to MDI to support youth services in the Northeast. If you are in the area, please drop in to pick up a bargain or buy a ticket for the raffle, some amazing prizes to be won between now and Saturday.
