Walk4Ollie 2024 is live!

Following the incredible success of Walk4Ollie in 2023, the Hickey Family are delighted to announce the second Walk4Ollie!

The walk is inspired by Paddy & Claire’s son Ollie, who was given the diagnosis of a muscular dystrophy called Bethlem myopathy when he was four years old. Bethlem myopathy is a rare condition affecting the skeletal muscles and connective tissue. The whole idea for the fundraiser was driven by Ollie – first and foremost to raise awareness about the condition and secondly to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Ireland.

All money raised will be ring-fenced into The Ollie Hickey Fund, a fund that MDI members can apply to. The Ollie Hickey Fund exists to directly support people with neuromuscular conditions in accessing opportunities and specialised resources that enhance independence and inclusion, enabling them to reach their full potential. Families interested in applying for the fund are invited to visit The Ollie Hickey Fund page

This year the Walk4 Ollie event takes place from 16th – 20th July, and the route follows the amazing Waterford Greenway from Dungarvan, through Waterford City, Graiguenamanagh, Carlow Town, Monasterevin and finishing up in their hometown of Enfield. Paddy & Claire Hickey will be joined by friends, family and MDI members along the 200km route.
