Help Us Understand Pain in Children and Young Adults With Physical Disabilities
Are you a parent or caregiver for a person aged between 5 – 17 years of age with a neuromuscular condition or other physical disability? If so, Michelle Mc Nama, a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at the University of Galway, invites you to take part in a short, 10-minute online survey about your child’s pain experiences.
Pain in children and young adults with physical disabilities is often under recognised, yet it can significantly impact their daily lives, wellbeing, and overall health. This study will be based on reports by parents or other caregivers and aims to:
(1) determine the nature and extent of pain in these young individuals and how they manage it, and
(2) whether specific factors, such as age, gender, and the presence of other physical or mental health difficulties impact chronic pain.
The findings could provide valuable insights for services, clinicians, and families on the assessment and management of pain.
