Muscular Dystrophy Ireland is delighted to launch the Jimmy Murray Centre Stage Fund

Muscular Dystrophy Ireland is delighted to launch the Jimmy Murray Centre Stage Fund, created in memory of our much loved and much missed colleague.

Jimmy believed in making the most of every opportunity and never saw disability as a reason to remain waiting in the wings when life had something to offer. Whether attending theatre, comedy, football, or social events, he approached each experience with determination, humour, and a strong sense of enjoyment, always finding a way to be part of the occasion.

The Jimmy Murray Centre Stage Fund has been established to continue that spirit by creating opportunities for MDI members to enjoy live entertainment and performances throughout the year. Opportunities will include events for adult participants as well as family-friendly experiences, with some linked to youth service activities and creative competitions led by MDI’s youth team.

Events already planned include tickets for award-winning shows such as; Les Misérables and Waitress at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin, live stand-up with Joanne McNally in Cork, along with national cinema experiences and additional events to be announced during the year.

The fund reflects Jimmy’s outlook on life - embracing opportunities, enjoying the moment, and ensuring that having access to memorable experiences remains part of what MDI can offer its members.

The first opportunity, for Waitress at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin, will open for applications next week - please keep an eye on your inbox for details.
