As part of Muscular Dystrophy Awareness month, we wish to let you know that 23 September is OPMD Awareness Day, when the OPMD Community comes together to raise awareness of Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy and to celebrate all members of the OPMD community.

Join the OPMD Association on Monday, September 23rd for their inaugural webinar. This important information session will provide people living with the condition, their families, and care teams with clinical insights, patient perspectives, clinical trial updates, and resources.

Oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) is a rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. It mostly affects the muscles around the eyes (oculo) and throat (pharyngeal), but weakness in the arms and legs can also occur. Symptoms of OPMD don’t usually develop until after the age of 40, with the average onset age being around 50 years of age. More info here
