Evrysdi for adults with SMA in Ireland: what to do next

MDI welcomes the significant development that reimbursement for Evrysdi (risdiplam) will be extended to a defined group of adults living with spinal muscular atrophy from 1 October 2026.

Following this important announcement, we, together with SMA Ireland, have been engaging with clinicians to better understand the practical process for adults who may wish to be considered for treatment, including where to go and what information or assessments may be required.

After a long campaign for greater access to treatment, this is an important milestone for the SMA community. Our focus now is on helping adults understand the process and ensuring they have clear, practical information about what happens next.
