Adult Members’ Accessible Hotel Breaks made possible through the Ollie Hickey Fund!

Muscular Dystrophy Ireland is excited to offer short hotel breaks exclusively for our adult members with the condition, made possible through the Ollie Hickey Fund! These breaks provide a chance to enjoy a short getaway in Dublin or Galway, particularly for members who may face financial or accessibility barriers to travel.

 Who is eligible?

✔ Open to adult MDI members living with muscular dystrophy.

✔ You can travel alone or bring a partner, friend, or PA.

✔ If financial or accessibility challenges have made travel difficult for you, we encourage you to apply.

Applications will be assessed based on financial need, accessibility requirements, and how the break would benefit the applicant.

• Conditions of Stay & Application Process

  1. Application Process

     • A limited number of breaks are available, and allocation is subject to an application process.

     • Submitting an application does not guarantee a break will be granted.

     • Applications will be assessed based on availability and need.

     • Applicants will be notified of the outcome once a decision has been made.

  2. Duration & Inclusions

     • The break includes bed and breakfast only for a maximum of two nights.

     • Any additional nights or upgrades must be arranged and paid for by the applicant.

  3. Additional Costs

     • Any additional charges incurred during the stay (e.g., room service, dining, spa treatments, etc.) must be settled by the guest upon checkout.

     • The organisation is not responsible for covering any extra costs beyond the agreed package.

  4. Booking & Availability

  • Successful applicants will be able to book directly with the hotel and arrange their own stay.

  • Once the booking is made, the hotel will notify MDI with the booking details and dates of stay.

  • Availability may vary between midweek and weekend stays.

  • Final confirmation of the booking will be provided directly by the hotel to the member.
