Structure of MDI and Board of Directors
The activities of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland (MDI) are conducted in accordance with its Constitution which was approved by passing a Special Resolution of the Company at its AGM held on 12 September 2020.
MDI is directed by a voluntary board. Under the Constitution the Board shall be not less than seven directors and not more than twelve directors comprising a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary, all of whom shall be elected by the members at an AGM. There is allocation for a minimum of three directors who shall be elected by members at an AGM (the ‘AGM Elected Directors’). A maximum of five directors may be co-opted by the directors for their particular expertise (the ‘Co-opted Directors’). At least 25 per cent of the Board must be persons with muscular dystrophy. The Board meets on a regular basis to determine the management, good governance, and financial control of MDI.

Bindu Nair
CHAIRPERSON
Bindu has an extensive experience of working in the health and pharma sector. She is currently the Country Commercial Lead for Abbott Nutrition, Ireland. Over the years she has worked in various senior management positions and has a proven track record in strategic planning, decision making and vast experience of leading through periods of transformation.
She is also the Chairperson of the FSMP Industry Group, Dairy Industry Ireland, IBEC.
Bindu holds a Science degree in Microbiology and Biotechnology, an MBA from Smurfit School of Business, UCD, and a Masters in Digital Marketing and Analytics, TUD and more recently she has completed a programme in Leading Digital Transformation in HealthCare from Harvard Medical School.

Stephen Kinch
TREASURER
I am Stephen Kinch, a dynamic and driven Chartered Certified Accountant with a proven track record in finance management, leadership, and strategic planning. Currently serving as the Group Head of Finance at Moby, I am highly passionate about financial & Accounting practices.
My career journey includes a recent successful tenure as the Head of Finance at Annesley Williams Ltd, the largest Skoda Dealership in Ireland, where I managed the finance & accounting function. Prior to Annesley Williams, I learned the tricks of the trade with Icon Accounting, Ireland’s leading accounting practice for professional contractors.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to giving back to the community. Joining Muscular Dystrophy Ireland aligns perfectly with my values, allowing me to contribute to an organization that tirelessly supports individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy.
On a personal level, my involvement with Muscular Dystrophy Ireland is more than just a role; it's a heartfelt commitment to making a meaningful difference. I'm excited about the opportunity to collaborate with an outstanding team and contribute to the organization's mission.

Sarah D'Rosario
COMPANY SECRETARY
Sarah has worked in the Funds Industry for over 15 years. During this time, Sarah has held various roles including Dealing Associate, Training Manager, and most recently Senior Risk Manager and Head of Investment Compliance for a large European Asset Manager.
Sarah is currently taking some time away from the corporate world to focus on family and other pursuits, including charitable activities.
Sarah holds a degree in International Finance with German and post graduate qualifications in Financial Regulation and in Learning and Development.

Eoghan Clifford
DIRECTOR
Eoghan was appointed to the Board of Directors of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland in 2021. He is also a member of the Research Committee in Paralympics Ireland and has a keen interest in quality of life issues for those with muscular dystrophy including technology and access to sport, recreation and education.
He is currently Professor and Head of Civil Engineering at the University of Galway. He works on various national and international research projects in areas including water and sanitation engineering, environmental engineering, sustainable transport and has carried out research in aerodynamics for paralympic cyclists. He is technical advisor to Vortech Water Solutions Ltd a spin-out company from his research group.
Eoghan previously served on the Board of Directors of Paralympics Ireland and was the chair of the Paralympics Athletes Commission. He is also Chaor of the Board of Drectors for An Meitheal Comhsaol, a community cooperative in Galway that promotes sustainable travel, delivers training and research into cycling and bicycle repair. He represented Ireland as a cyclist in the 2016 Paralympics, winning a gold and bronze medal, and was a 4-time world champion.

Denise Collins
DIRECTOR
Denise Collins is an experienced Human Resources Director having worked for several global and national companies, ranging from family owned enterprises to PLCs. Currently the Global HR Director for a generic pharmaceutical company, Norbrook Laboratories, in Co Down since 2015, Denise previously led the HR function in Coca-Cola HBC for the Island of Ireland. Denise gained valuable experience in a start-up renewable energy company, OpenHydro in Dublin and started her career in the UK, working for the professional body for Chemists and as a key member of the HR team in pharmaceutical giant, GlaxoSmithKline
Denise has a passion for making a difference in the community and established Norbrook’s WeCare programme several years ago. Denise has led this programme since its inception and has developed great relationships with community bodies in Northern Ireland, winning the Impact in your Community Award in 2023. In 2024, Denise led the Norbrook team to victory in the Business in the Community/Cancer Focus NI Charity Shops Challenge, picking up special recognition with an Outstanding Fundraising Award.
Denise holds a PhD in chemistry and lives in the picturesque Cooley Peninsula in Co. Louth with her husband and two teenage children.

Dr. Ashling Holland
DIRECTOR
Dr. Ashling Holland is a published international biomedical scientist with expertise in muscular dystrophy. Her scientific research career over the past nearly 15 years has focused on multiple types of muscular dystrophy. Ashling is a founding scientist and Director of Preclinical Development at PepGen, where she leads the preclinical development their Duchenne muscular dystrophy and myotonic dystrophy programs. In 2020, she joined the Board of Directors of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and serves as the Chair of the Research Committee and is a member of the Neuromuscular Disease registry advisory group. Ashling is passionate about supporting the MD community and contributing to MDI's mission of supporting people with MD.

Denise Donovan
DIRECTOR
Denise Donovan is currently Head of Finance and Operations at Home Building Finance Ireland (“HBFI”), a commercial state-owned entity which provides funding for residential development. Prior to joining HBFI, Denise spent most of her career focused on underwriting and credit risk in corporate lending and asset-backed finance with banks and non-bank lenders in Australia, the UK and Ireland, including GE Commercial, BNP Paribas and Macquarie Bank. Denise holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UCD and a Masters of Accounting from the Smurfit Graduate Business School and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

John O’Regan
DIRECTOR
John O’Regan is a barrister and has practised at the Irish bar since 2008, focusing mainly on civil/commercial law. He is on the MDI board’s quality and governance committee. He also sits on the appeal committee for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland. He has volunteered for a number of NGO’s in the past, including Suas Educational Development. He is a great admirer of the work of MDI and in particular its members and those with neuromuscular conditions. His hobbies include cycling and music.

Kevin O’Regan
DIRECTOR
Kevin has more than 8 years of experience in the advertising industry, as co-founder and Creative Director of The Reelists, an award-winning production and consultancy company. The Reelists specialise in delivering communications services to charities and other public organisations in Ireland.
As a business owner, Kevin has a wealth of experience across topics like governance, HR, finances and marketing. As a Creative Director, his job is solving problems for charity clients- producing awareness and fundraising campaigns for national charities like the Marie Keating Foundation, Irish Cancer Society, The Wheel, Epilepsy Ireland and Simon Community, as well for many Government agencies. Through this experience, he has developed a deep knowledge of how public organisations should communicate with stakeholders and the general public, and how to make sure a message resonates with a target audience.
This work inspired Kevin to get involved in MDI as a board member, where he hopes to use his broad experience of the charity sector to help MDI maintain their excellent standards, and communicate their important mission effectively.
