Una Ennis recalls her first interaction with MDI after receiving her son Archie’s DMD diagnosis.

Una Ennis recalls her first interaction with MDI after receiving her son Archie’s DMD diagnosis following a clinic referral to the Clinic Liaison Officer (CLO), Una Ennis reflects on her first interaction with MDI: “It was a couple of days later [after receiving her son's diagnosis] when I made that call to MDI. Sinead [CLO] answered the phone. I can barely get the words out, I said: ‘My name is Una and my little boy has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.’ And I remember just getting those words out and just crying, and she said to me: ‘Una, I’ve worked with Duchenne boys for the past 20 years and they live life, they play wheelchair football, they go to college, they do have their difficulties, but they do live life.’ And it just warmed my heart right back up and gave me so much hope. The difference with the conversation with the doctor, I felt like it was doom and gloom, because it has to be, it's reality, and then MDI, Sinead just gave me so much hope. She also gave us so much support.

During some of my darkest days, her kindness, understanding, and advice made a world of difference. She truly helped me find my way forward when things felt overwhelming.
