Call For Participants: Take part in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) Study

Siobhan O’ Shea

I'm a senior Occupational Therapist working part time in the Central Remedial Clinic and doing a research masters through the school of Occupational Therapy in Trinity College Dublin part time also. The research I'm doing involves meeting young adults with muscular dystrophy, particularly Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), and completing interviews regarding their transition from childhood to adulthood. I have ethics approval to interview young adults with a diagnosis of muscular dystrophy.

The questions which this study seeks to answer are:

What are the challenges faced by young people with muscular dystrophy during transitions to adulthood.

What supports might assist young people in preparing for, and during transitions to adulthood.

I'm particularly interested in meeting with anyone aged 18 years and older with a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

If there are people interested in participating but may have concerns about their ability to participate, I would be very happy to discuss this and complete the interview in whatever way was most suitable for them. I'm happy to be flexible to meet their needs.

Thank you
