No Magic Pill – open call (November 25, 2018)
Are you a wheelchair-user with an interest in theatre?
Playwright Christian O’Reilly (‘Inside I’m Dancing’, ‘Sanctuary’) and his team (director Raymond Keane, producer Feilim O’hAoláin and disability consultant Peter Kearns) are developing a stage play about disability activist Martin Naughton. They are looking for disabled actors who use wheelchairs to take part in a week-long workshop in January (7th to 11th). This is a professional development process. Some previous theatre experience would be beneficial to the candidates, but is not required.
Auditions will be held in Carmichael House on Wednesday, December 12th. Anyone who wishes to be considered to audition should send their CV or a letter outlining their experience to date to nomagicpillproduction@gmail.com.
Specifically, they are looking for actors to play characters with Muscular Dystrophy (male and female, 18 to 40 years) and Cerebral Palsy (male, 18 to 40 years).
Please note that the purpose of the auditions will be to cast the workshop rather than an actual production of the play. The team hopes to produce the play in 2020.
