National Awareness Day Campaign

MDI Chocolates

MDIs first “Have a Heart” National Awareness Day Campaign took place on Valentine’s Day in 2001 and has been growing from strength to strength ever since.

The idea behind this campaign is twofold.  Firstly, to raise much needed funds to help enhance the services which MDI provide for its members and secondly, but equally as important, to spread awareness about the condition muscular dystrophy and the services which MDI provide.

Since its conception, this campaign has raised thousands of euro each year through the sale of two handmade heart shaped chocolates in attractive presentation boxes retailing at only €2.  These chocolates were sold in various offices and retail outlets nationwide and by members and friends of MDI.

In 2010 as an additional means of raising funds through this campaign, we also introduced heart shaped tea light scented candles for €3.00 each, which also proved to be very popular.

The 2012 Campaign took place from the 11th-14th February 2012 and the proceeds are still being counted.  To date, this year's campaign has raised over €13,000 which is great.  Thank you to DPD Irelands largest courier company, Dunnes Stores, Debenhams and Tesco who supported this years campaigm, as well as all our volunteers, members and friends for their support. And of course thanks to the general public for their kind generosity which is very much appreciated.

MDI would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our National Awareness Campaign over the years and we look forward to your continued support.

We would also like to thank all our volunteers, members and staff who help out each year with the sale of our chocolates and candles. Without you support we could not do this.

We would particularly like to thank Debenhams Department Stores Nationwide who have supported us every year by allowing us into their stores to sell chocolates.   Thanks also to the various Arnotts, Eason’s, Londis Supervalu and Tesco stores nationwide who have also supported this campaign in the past    Here’s to next years campaign!
