MDI are constantly relying on various grants, voluntary donations and fundraising activities each year to help bridge the shortfall in funding between essential services and the emergency, practical and social services which we provide. The support of our members, friends and the general public plays a key role in this regard through the ongoing donations received and fundraising events which are organised each year. This support enables MDI to maintain the high level of services we provide to members, and we wish to acknowledge our sincere appreciation and thanks to all concerned for your ongoing support.

While we don’t take our services for granted, MDI will always advocate to improve (or at least retain) services at current levels. However, given the current financial uncertainties and cutbacks which many of us are experiencing at present, it is important that MDI look at additional ways to raise funds to help achieve this. One such idea is an “online shop”, which we have now set up for a trial period to evaluate its feasibility and if it shows potential we will look into developing this further.

The online shop will only stock MDI branded merchandise which will serve the dual purpose of raising both funds and awareness for MDI. As an initial starting point, we will have the following items for sale: candles, chocolates, polo t-shirts, pens, pins and umbrellas. We will also stock “seasonal” items such as Christmas cards and calendars when appropriate. If there are any other items which you think might sell well let us know, we are open to suggestions.
